Have you ever thought about your brain and gut connection? How are they connected and why does a healthy good mean good mental health?

The gut-brain connection is absolutely something to be taken seriously, it links anxiety to stomach problems. Have you ever had butterflies in your stomach or had a gut wrenching feeling? Or had a gut instinct about something. That is your gut telling you something.

We use these expressions for a reason. The gastrointestinal tract is incredibly sensitive to emotion. Emotions like anger, anxiety, sadness, happiness, all of these feelings (and many more) can trigger symptoms in the gut. Interesting right?

Another interesting fact is that the brain has a direct effect on the stomach and intestines. As an example, even the thought of eating can release the stomach’s juices before food gets there.

And this connection goes both ways. If you are having trouble with your intestine it can send signals to the brain, just as a troubled brain can send signals to the gut.
