What is cryotherapy, and how does cryotherapy work?

Whole body cryotherapy (WBC) is a form of treatment that uses extremely low temperatures to trigger a physiological response from the body. Cryotherapy consists of briefly exposing the body to extremely cold air (-85 ˚C down to -110˚C, brrrrr) by standing or sitting in a cryo chamber for a few minutes.

Very cold temperatures are able to constrict the blood vessels and in doing so, blood moves away from your limbs and goes towards the body’s organs. This then increases oxygen and anti-inflammatory proteins while helping to reduce inflammation, decrease stress, improve sleep, increase metabolism, enhance immune function & speed up recovery among many other benefits.

What are the key benefits of Cryotherapy?

There are lots of benefits to cryotherapy, and Get A Drip could talk about them all day, but we want to make this quick and easy for you! So, here are the key benefits that you can experience after a session of cryotherapy or two.

  • Improved mental well-being Cryotherapy can help improve your mental well-being. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression or stress, cryotherapy sessions can ease your mind. Exposure to the extremely cold conditions can cause the body to release adrenaline and endorphins which impact mood.
  • Pain management – If you are experiencing pain because of a condition or injury, it can be aided with cryotherapy by reducing the number of pain signals your brain receives, and cryotherapy also reduces inflammation. As a result of this, you can experience ease in pain after each session. Arthritis, migraines, fibromyalgia, are just some of the painful conditions, this treatment can help.
  • Recovery from injuries – If you’re suffering from an injury caused by playing sports, work or similar, cryotherapy can help. Regular cryotherapy sessions can help with reducing swelling and inflammation. For athletes, cryotherapy is particularly good because it also helps heal tender and painful muscles.
  • Weight lossCryotherapy can also help you if you are on a weight loss journey, as exposure to extremely cold temperatures burns calories and boosts your metabolic rate. So, you can feel energised after the session, and after more than one, you will start to see and feel a difference in weight. However, it won’t work on its own, you will still need a balanced diet and exercise of course!

Across the world, cryotherapy is used for sports, medical purposes or just to support your everyday health & wellness – it’s the perfect solution.

Whether you’re a long time fan of cryotherapy or it’s a new concept to you, Get A Drip has a launch offer that is too good to be missed. With sessions starting from just £9.45, Get A Drip will be one of the cheapest cryotherapy providers in London.

World Asthma Day

World Asthma Day – Tuesday 3rd May 2022

World Asthma Day, organised by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA), is held in May each year to raise awareness of asthma – a lung condition that affects an estimated 8 million people in the UK alone, and 300 million people worldwide 🌍

GINA has chosen ‘Closing Gaps in Asthma Care’ as the theme for the 2022 World Asthma Day.

There are a number of gaps in asthma care which require intervention in order to reduce preventable suffering as well as the costs incurred by treating uncontrolled asthma.

Triggers for asthma include: stress, infections, exercise, cold weather, pollution, allergies, and certain medicines such as ibuprofen.

There is currently no cure for asthma, but it can be managed using ongoing treatments to help reduce symptoms and prevent potentially life-threatening asthma attacks. Such treatments can include:

💨 Inhalers for both relief / prevention
💊 Prescribed drugs in tablet, powder or syrup form
💉 Biologic therapies (Injections) for severe cases
🧑🏽‍⚕️ Bronchial thermoplasty surgery
💧 Complementary therapies, e.g. breathing exercises, dietary supplements

DID YOU KNOW?

A June 2013 study published in Wiener klinische Wochenschrift – The Central European Journal of Medicine found that antioxidants, including vitamins A and E, could have a beneficial impact on those with asthma.

A small study published in the August 2014 issue of Free Radical Biology & Medicine found that when combined with Vitamin C and Selenium, a nasal spray of choline helped treat allergic airway disease in mice. Though studies done on people are still needed, taking Choline, a B Vitamin, may reduce the severity and frequency of asthma attacks, according to the University of Maryland Medical Center. High doses (3 grams a day for adults) may be most effective, but you shouldn’t take them without talking to your doctor first.

Get A Drip offer a range of Vitamin Drips & Booster Shots containing the above Vitamins. Our ever popular High Dose Vitamin C Drip contains betweem 6.25g and 25g of Vitamin C, while Selenium is available as an add on to most of the drips on our menu.

If you have asthma, speak to a friend, family or colleague about your experience with it today!

Meet Our Mobile Franchisee

Say hello to Emanuel Obreja!

Essex based Emanuel has been with Get A Drip Franchise since February 2021. We chatted to him about the challenge of setting up a business during lockdown and what he enjoys most about being a franchisee.

Emanuel, tell us about your professional background

I was born in Romania and I came to England in 2013. I am from a medical background and after graduating from Nursing School I started my professional experience as a volunteer with the Ambulance crew before moving on to work at a dialysis centre in Romania. When I came to the UK my first job was a healthcare assistant in a Nursing Home and I then went on to work as a Senior Staff Nurse at The Harley Street Clinic.

What made you want to join GAD?

I have had an interest in Vitamin Therapy since first reading about its benefits 10 years ago. A colleague of mine introduced me to Get A Drip in 2020 and it really appealed to my entrepreneurial side. I was looking for an opportunity that would allow me to spend more time with my family, while still doing something that I love. Get A Drip was perfect. I love trying new things and also I like the flexibility which GAD offers. The team are nice and always available to help as needed. Also, having all of the necessary systems in place makes life so much easier as a franchisee.

How did you find launching your franchise during lockdown?

I felt that this was an opportunity as life was not as busy and I had more time to take it slow and learn effectively.
I also found that due to lockdown people were more considerate of their health and were more open to the benefits of Vitamin Therapy. My business has grown month on month with a high percentage of repeat clients which is great.

What is the best thing about being a Get A Drip franchisee?

The best thing about owning a Get A Drip franchise is the flexibility which I have. I’m still working in the hospital 2 days per week which keeps my skills up to date, but owning my own franchise gives me more time with my family. I also receive all the support which I need in running my business, such as help answering medical questions, managing bookings and marketing support. We also have a dedicated Business Development Manager who meets with us 1:1 on a regular basis to help us grow our business.

What are your aims for your business for the future?

My aim for the future is to do many pop up events to continue to teach people about the benefits of Drips and Boosters and raise awareness for Vitamin Therapy. Currently I operate on a mobile basis offering treatment in clients homes, I would eventually like my own static clinic in Kent and Essex.
