New at Get A Drip: Infrared Sauna!

What is an Infrared Sauna and how does it work?

While a traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air around you, an Infrared Sauna uses infrared light to directly warm the body itself, essentially heating you up from the inside out rather than feeling the heat around you. Infrared light is a type of energy your eyes can’t see, but your body can feel as heat. An Infrared Sauna uses infrared heaters to emit infrared light, experienced as radiant heat which is then absorbed by the surface of the skin.

Our Sauna is composed of near, mid and far infrared light with 360° pure infrared heat, measuring approximately 9.4 microns. There are heaters on the front wall, side walls and underneath the bench, heating your body from every direction, which targets your core rather than just heating the Sauna cabin air.

What are the benefits of an Infrared Sauna?

There are many health benefits to using Infrared Therapy, including:

  • Improved circulation
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Wound healing
  • Increased metabolism
  • Weight loss
  • Improved detoxification

What you can expect during your Infrared Sauna session

As an Infrared Sauna is different from a traditional Sauna, one of the first things you will notice when you first enter is that you are not hit with a wave of heat, but rather the heat will build up and you will feel it throughout your session. As this is a two person Sauna, you may either bring someone along to experience it with you or enjoy some well deserved alone time to sit back and relax and rejuvenate!

You can either choose between 25 minutes or 45 minutes in the chamber. The longer you stay in the chamber, the more heat will build up that you will be able to feel in your core. As an Infrared Sauna is designed to heat you up from “the inside out”, it is not uncommon to only start sweating towards the end of your session. However, this does not mean that your treatment is not working! The overall goal of an Infrared Sauna is not to sweat, but rather heal you from the inside.

Don’t forget to hydrate after your treatment! Your body has undergone a detoxification process, so it is important to restore and rehydrate your body. Following your treatment, it is common for your body to continue to perspire naturally to regulate its temperature. Therefore, it is crucial to monitor your water intake to prevent dehydration.

What is the difference between a steam sauna vs. an Infrared Sauna?

One of the first things that you will notice when you enter an Infrared sauna is that it is not hot. If you are familiar with traditional steam saunas, you are blasted with hot air as soon as you enter and may start sweating almost immediately. However, with Infrared Saunas, it may take you a couple of minutes to really feel the heat, and you may not start sweating until the end of your session.

Comparatively to a traditional steam sauna, the aim of an Infrared sauna is not to sweat at all your toxins, but rather target your core for a variety of different benefits and results. Infrared Saunas employ cutting-edge therapy to induce internal heat within the body, directing only a minimal portion of the heat towards the surrounding air. This leads to a more profound perspiration experience at a reduced ambient air temperature.
