Glow with the Flow: Tips & Tricks for Radiant Skin

With the sun finally starting to peek through the clouds, it is vital that we remind ourselves about skin health and why it is so important. As your skin is the first layer of defence against the outside world, it is important that we maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to protect it. Keep reading to find out everything that our skin does for us as well as tips and tricks to maintain healthy skin.

Our skin does more than you may think! Not only does our skin help us from outside dangers such as: bacteria, harmful chemicals, and UV rays, but it also plays a key role in regulating your body temperature and fluids. It can help to prevent excess fluid loss while simultaneously removing excess water and salt and tiny blood vessels in our skin help to regulate our body temperature. Additionally, the cells in our skin turn sunlight into a source of Vitamin D, that can help control infections, reduce inflammation and aid in healthy bones. Our skin may also alert you to a possible health problem. For example, a red rash might signal allergies or an infection, a “butterfly” rash might be a sign of lupus, a yellow tint may indicate liver disease and dark or unusual moles might be a warning sign of skin cancer. It is important that we monitor our skin and be on the lookout for unexpected changes to your skin. If you have experienced any changes (even if it’s minor), talk to your GP if you have any concerns!

Our skin does so much for us, so how can we return the favour?

Always wear sunscreen – even if it’s cloudy! Avoid intense sun exposure and UV rays, and wear protective clothing. Intense exposure to UV rays may lead to skin cancer, premature ageing and skin damage, cataract and immune system suppression.

Get enough sleep. It is recommended for adults to get 7-8 hours of sleep at night.

Use warm water. It is recommended to wash your skin with warm water and use gentle cleansers to avoid irritation.

Avoid dry skin. Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated! Use gentle lotions and moisturisers to maintain healthy skin. Each one of our Vitamin Drips is mixed within a IL bag of saline, ensuring that you stay as hydrated as needed. To book our Hydration Drip click here

Avoid sunlamps and tanning beds. These emit the same harmful UV rays as sunlight. This may lead to premature ageing and fine lines. Exposure to UV rays may also increase your risk of developing skin cancer. A great alternative to simulate the feeling of sun exposure without the intrusive UV rays is Photobiomodulation or Red Light Therapy. However, research suggests that our CoQ10 levels that we produce naturally decrease as you age and supplementation may improve certain aspects of health in older individuals. Get A Drip offers CoQ10 Booster Shot Injections ranging from 25mg-100mg. To book your CoQ10 Booster Shot, click here
