Venous blood draws are the clinical gold standard to which finger-prick tests (also known as capillary tests) are benchmarked. Finger-prick tests are acceptable but more prone to unreadable results due to haemolysis in transit, where red cells break and skew results, or temperature changes causing unreadable results. Fasting is required for accurate measurement of lipids. We recommend coming in fasted (water only, 8 to 12 hours) to get the most accurate cardiovascular readings. If you are a man interested in your testosterone levels, prioritise a morning slot — ideally before 11am, or within 4 hours of waking — as this is the time window that offers the most accurate testosterone reading.
